  • Acquisition of TennisPro Group perfectly complements SIGNA Sports United’s subsidiary Tennis-Point
  • Tennis-Point is manifesting its strong leading position in Europe’s tennis market
  • SIGNA Sports United continues successful track record of bolt-on acquisitions to build global #1 sports platform

Berlin, June 25, 2019 – SIGNA Sports United has signed the contracts for the acquisition of TennisPro Group – the leading tennis online retailer in France and Southern-Europe. The contracts were signed on Tuesday, 25 June 2019, and include the takeover of the TennisPro group of online companies as well as the well positioned franchise store network with 46 stores in France, Belgium, and Italy.

TennisPro perfectly complements SIGNA Sports United’s Tennis vertical under Tennis-Point, the leading European online tennis destination. Together, both companies will take the Tennis experience in France and in the rest of Europe to a whole new level. One example is Tennis-Point’s successful myTennis App, the leading tennis community app in Germany, with more than 200,000 downloads and a unique active user rate. It offers live scores, rankings, breakthrough statistics, and unique content, connects tennis players, coaches as well as fans and will be rolled-out to France in the second half of 2019.

“The success of SIGNA Sports United is based on being more than an online retailer: we are building vertical specific sport communities with the clear aspiration to improve how people actually experience their sport activity. TennisPro and Tennis-Point are both addressing tennis enthusiasts with a high-end unique tennis experience but a complementary geographic footprint – which is a perfect match for us,” says Stephan Zoll, CEO of SIGNA Sports United.

Christian Miele, Founder & CEO of Tennis-Point, adds: “The TennisPro team has built a great brand with a unique customer proposition including remarkable events, outstanding racquet customization services, video training tutorials, and many more specific services, all dedicated to improving the game for the enthusiastic tennis players. We are very happy to welcome this great team to our Tennis-Point family.”

Jean-Christophe Schaffo, Founder & CEO of TennisPro, confirms, “Tennis-Point and TennisPro are a perfect match: I am very happy that both teams join forces to shape the future of tennis in Europe together. SIGNA Sports United and Tennis-Point in particular are great partners to jointly develop the business in France and across Europe.“

For SIGNA Sports United, the takeover of TennisPro builds on a series of successful bolt-on acquisitions in the core sport verticals of Bike, Outdoor, Tennis, and Teamsports & Athleisure over the last three years including the successful integration of companies and brands like ProbikeShop, CenterCourt, Stylefile, and Outfitter.

SIGNA Sports United is in advanced discussions with other potential partners with the aim of continuing to expand its position in Europe as leading sports experience platform and partner for athletes, clubs, fans, associations, and the wider sports ecosystem as a whole.
